Salman Khan paparazzi controversy

Salman Khan recently addressed the widespread discussion surrounding his viral outburst on Bigg Boss, clarifying that his critique was directed solely at intrusive photographers who cross boundaries and capture inappropriate angles of celebrities.

Drawing a Line Between PR and Privacy

Appearing as the first guest on Koffee With Karan Season 9, Salman opened up to host Karan Johar about the industry’s complex relationship with media coverage. He explained that while some public figures actively collaborate with PR teams or pose for planned “airport looks” and staged sightings, his anger stemmed from a very different place.

“Since this PR has come, there are some people who pay the PR for their sighting or whatever that is called… I was not speaking about those kinds of people,” Salman shared. “I was speaking for those people who don’t want it. There are really bad angles, and girls are uncomfortable.”

Weighing in on modern smartphone culture with a touch of humor, the actor joked about the omnipresence of camera phones, noting how constant lens-pointing can feel invasive.

The Root of the Outburst

During a previous episode of Bigg Boss, Salman had fiercely criticized photographers for taking invasive photographs from behind without consent, noting that many actresses deeply dislike the practice. He emphasized that while a few individuals may not mind the attention, the comfort and boundaries of those who object must be respected.

Karan Johar praised the actor for using his platform to speak up on an issue that many in the industry quietly endure, reinforcing the need for greater respect and professionalism within media coverage.
