Joshua Kerry, the man accused of murdering former UK politician Ann Widdecombe, appeared at Westminster Magistratesā Court on 7 October 2026. He faces a separate charge of preparing acts of terrorism, including alleged activity linked to Reform UK leader Nigel Farage.
According to court proceedings reported by Sky News, Kerry, 28, is accused of researching prominent people and institutions and attempting to enter Farageās home.
What Happened at Nigel Farageās Home?
Prosecutors told Westminster Magistratesā Court that Farageās partner returned home on 20 April 2025 and found damage to the main front door. Part of the wooden door frame was damaged, and a bottle of lighter fluid was reportedly found in the porch.
Prosecutor Kashif Malik also told the court that investigators found a tool mark on the door frame. The mark was described as being consistent with a single-bladed edge measuring 27mm.
The prosecution alleges that Kerry researched prominent people and institutions between 31 May 2024 and 8 July 2026. This research allegedly included identifying Nigel Farageās home address.
These details were presented as allegations during court proceedings. They do not, by themselves, establish that the accused committed the offences.
Court Appearance and Charges
Kerry appeared before Chief Magistrate Paul Goldspring at Westminster Magistratesā Court. The hearing lasted less than five minutes, and Kerry confirmed his identity.
He was not asked to enter a plea to the charge of preparing acts of terrorism. The alleged offence covers the period from 31 May to 8 July 2026.
The court ordered Kerry to remain in custody ahead of his next scheduled appearance at the Old Bailey on 9 October 2026, as reported by Sky News on 7 October.
Connection to the Ann Widdecombe Murder Case
Kerry is also charged with the murder of Ann Widdecombe, a former Conservative government minister and Reform UK spokeswoman. Widdecombe died at the age of 78 on 8 July 2026.
Kerry, who is from Rotherham, South Yorkshire, was formally charged with her murder on 20 July 2026.
The murder charge and the separate terrorism charge are distinct legal matters. Both must be dealt with through the legal process, and the allegations should not be treated as proof of guilt.
